Identity is not in performance

Unique Possession
(Affirmation of who we are in God – chosen son/daughter)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (AMP)

“I can’t help but feel inspired with confidence as I read this verse! In Wuest’s Word Studies in the Greek New Testament, Kenneth S. Wuest comments, “Each saint is God’s unique possession just as if that saint were the only human being in existence.” I don’t know about you, but knowing I’m God’s unique, beloved, royal possession makes me feel awfully special.” Mary Fairchild on 1 Peter 2:9

We often talk about a God shaped hole in people’s lives. Do you know that there is a ‘you’ shaped hole in God’s heart that can only be filled with your love and adoration? Your love relationship with Him is unique

Unique Purpose
No one else is as ideally suited for God’s purposes for you . . . than you! He has already placed inside you what He has planned for you, don’t strive to get it out. If you have a heart that chases after Him, loves being with Him in worship, when reading the word, praying, trying to stay connected through your day, then God will work it out for you! He will give wisdom when you need it, courage when you need it, a nudge to act or a word for someone, all when you need it. Rest in that and your unique purpose

Unique Position
You have authority just like Jesus did. If you know what the Father’s heart is in a situation then you are in authority through what Jesus did and because Jesus made you a brother, ie you can be like him in character and actions. What does it really mean when we say Jesus gave up His position in heaven to come to earth? That had to work out in a number of ways while He was here didn’t it? Whilst never losing his position as God, I believe, He did his works and wonders as a human. He exercised authority under God doing what He saw his Father doing. What would be the purpose of Him using His ultimate power as God to do these things? Just to kind of say to us that we could never possibly do them? We too have that relationship with Father through the way Jesus opened for us and through the Holy Spirit. So Jesus is not just some unattainable model for us to try our shambling best to follow – we have a position of power and authority! We have authority to enable the redemption of situations, every kind act redeems, every prayer takes some territory whether for a person’s healing, release from something damaging, whatever. Wherever you spend most of your time, you are in authority, whatever your (work, home, college, etc) position! So you have your earthly position, then in God you have your spiritual position. You can act on both! Mark 13:34

Final Thoughts
No longer is it your job to make sure you don’t fail, that’s God’s job! Yours is just to try and be faithful. This is in freedom because God’s love to you remains whether you ‘do’ or you don’t ‘do’. So freedom from fear of failure is available, if in our ‘doing’, we can somehow ‘let go’ to Father.

Dream with God, not for Him. Have an open hand that lets God do His work and also that let’s other God inspired people help you. Open also means balancing yearning with fulfilment, learn where you are at the moment with certain things, are you dreaming and birthing ‘within’ or is it a time for doing ‘without’?

Do the smallest things first, keep a journal. Looking back can be amazing sometimes when we see what God has done and can help release us in true freedom to do bigger/scarier things

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.”
Proverbs 24:16 (NLT) Keep giving it a go when trying to trust God, recognise the voice of fear that says ‘ooh, better do this by myself, my way, or it will go wrong’. Also try to recognise nudges from the Holy Spirit and try to act on those. Let’s ‘do it scared’, as they say, and soon we will be doing it smiling! God is gracious and blesses all we do however we do it, like we would do for children of our own, and, like children we can learn from a truly loving and gracious Father. .
